OPENING THE DOOR ON A NEW WAY TO STAY COMPETITIVE
March 2005
The Engineering Technology Group Ltd (ETG) will hold its first-ever Open
House from 24th to 26th May at its headquarters in Southam.
The group was created at the beginning of April this year, and brings
together four complementary businesses that together can offer customers
access to the world’s most productive machine tools and all the supporting
elements they need to take full advantage of them.
ETG’s approach combines what smaller companies do best – providing
specialised expertise and focus – with the strengths of a larger
organisation.
The four businesses that make up the Group – Chiron, Turning Technologies,
Hyfore and Hyformation – each operate as individual businesses, with their
own teams of factory-trained engineers, but can draw on the Group’s common
central resources, services and market knowledge.
At the Open House, visitors will be able to see live demonstrations, get
free technical advice and learn more about how the strengths of the group
can help them compete in global markets.
The four complementary elements of the group on show will be Chiron’s
high-productivity machining centres; Nakamura-Tome’s Super High Precision
Turning Centres for which Turning Technologies is the sole UK distributor;
Hyfore’s specialist expertise in automated work-holding and handling systems
and Hyformation, a new business that will be introducing sophisticated FMS
elements from KUPA to the UK market.
KUPA is an Austrian company that has built a strong reputation in mainland
Europe for its flexible pallet automation and bar-feeding systems for
individual and interlinked systems. KUPA’s modular concept means that
standard units can be combined and modified to produce bespoke systems. The
result is reliable, flexible and capable automation at competitive prices
and short delivery times.
Also making its UK debut at the Open House will be the latest addition to
Nakamura’s highly capable WT family of twin-turret, twin-spindle turning
centres. With a 42mm bar capacity and rapid feeds of 40m/min, the WT-100
gives all the power and productivity of its bigger brothers on a compact 2.3
by 1.62 metre footprint.
Commenting on the event, Group Chairman Paul Rhodes said, “It is very
exciting for us to be able to introduce The Engineering Technology Group to
our customers. It has never been more important that they have the
capability to survive and thrive in a cutthroat global market. We
emphatically believe that the only way to achieve this is to invest in fast,
productive, reliable and flexible machine tools and, even more importantly,
the advanced, engineered manufacturing processes to take full advantage of
them. That is our vision, and I hope our customers will share it.”
The Engineering Technology Group inaugural Open House runs at the same time
as Subcon 2005, the UK’s leading subcontracting exhibition, which takes
place at the NEC just 20 minute’s drive from Southam. Transport will be
available for any visitors travelling by train who want to visit both events
in the same day.
The Open House runs from 10.00am to 5.00 pm from Tuesday 24th May to
Thursday 26th May. Lunch and refreshments will be served throughout each
day. Places for the Open House can be booked online at www.cncevents.com or
by calling 01926 818429.
